Srinagar 05 Jan (KNB): Prime minister of India Narendra Modi visited the state of Jammu and Kashmir for the third time since coming in the power in 2014 and inaugurating several projects in Leh and various developmental projects and laid foundation stones of two AIIMS in South Kashmir’s Awantipora town and in Vijaypur.
The people of the state of the Jammu and Kashmir had expectations on the visiting prime Minister including the different sects of the state. Though Modi inaugurated projects worth Rs 35,000 crore at Vijaypur, while in Kashmir and Ladakh he dedicated projects worth Rs 9,000 crore.
Modi laid foundation stones of various development projects worth Rs 6,000 crore which include setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur, a bridge over river Chenab, pollution abatement project on rivers Devika and Tawi, a campus of Northern Regional Centre of Indian Institute of Mass Communication and University Institute of Engineering and Technology in Kathua.
During the earlier visit in Narander Modi Said that “His “DIL” (heart) is for J&K and Delhi too is for Kashmir. “Delhi Ki Tijori Aap Ke liye Khuli Hay”. Such statements bring us closer and fill up the gaps created by communal forces and announced a Rs. 80,000-crore package saying funds would not be a constraint in building a modern, progressive and prosperous State.
But reality was that nothing changed on ground level state of Jammu and Kashmir. Every department of administration were facing the financial crunch whether a Anganwadi worker, teacher, RET and even the contractors.
The question arises where has all those funds gone . Besides announcement of the releasing of the city funds the progress works are at halt. The flyover from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh–Natipora at Rambagh Crossing in Srinagar laid by the then CM chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on September 2013 is an example which is yet to be completed.
National highway which connects the valley with outside world needs the expansion and renovation to make it feasible for the every season but since 1947 we are witnessing highway gets disrupted with a mere snowfall or rainfall.
Technically the inauguration of the the 220-KV Srinagar-Alusteng-Drass-Kargil-Leh transmission system to the state will only result in the darkness to state as the step has been taken without enhancing the grid capacity
The best should had been if the government of India would have completed the pending projects first so that the standard and quality of life should have improved. Though Modi visited the state of Jammu and Kashmir and inaugurated the various projects for the development of state but
We can hope that the projects inaugurated by the Narendra Modi may be completed and shouldn’t become a publicity and vote bank stunt. (KNB)
