Militant killed in Pulwama, South Kashmir gunfight

Srinagar, April 06 (KNB): A militant identified as Musawir Ahmad of Dialipora was killed in an encounter at Kangan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday afternoon, taking the toll of slain militants to 14 following 13 were killed on April 1st.

Though the gunfight stopped, however search operation was underway in the area at a time this report was filed.

The militant was identified as Musawir Ahmad a resident of Dialipora. Sources told KNB that the slain militant belonged to HM outfit. A police official said that two AK-47 assault rifles were recovered from the slain militant.

Earlier, SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary had told that a cordon-and-search operation was launched by a joint team of army’s 55 RR, police, and CRPF at Kangan orchards following inputs about the presence of some militants.

As the joint party approached the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering off an encounter, the officer had said. (KNB)
