Sopore, June 30, 2024: Sopore police, along with 22 RR and 179 Bn CRPF, apprehended a terror associate and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Machipora, Bomai, on Sunday.
According to official, a joint naka was established at Machipora, Bomai, around 19:40 hours. When a white Maruti Swift (JK01AK-4452) was intercepted, the driver, Waheed ul Zahoor, attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended by the alert naka party.
During questioning, Zahoor revealed his identity and disclosed that he was a terror associate. A thorough search of the vehicle yielded:
- 2 Turkish Pistols
- 3 Turkish Pistol Magazines
- 41 Pistol Rounds
- 2 Chinese Grenades
- 1 Turkish Pistol Silencer
- Incriminating IED materials
A case (FIR No 37/2024) has been registered at Police Station Bomai under relevant sections of the UAP Act, Explosive Substances Act, and Arms Act. Further investigation is underway, and additional recoveries are expected, he said.(KNB)
