Man slipped to death while cleaning snow in Plan Bandipora

Bandipora, Jan 05(KNB):A man died after falling from a rooftop while he was clearing snow in Plan area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday.

As per the reports, Mumtaz Ahmad, resident of Plan Bandipora, fell down from the roof of his house while he was clearing snow to prevent it from collapsing.

He was shifted to DH Bandipora where from he was referred to SKIMS Soura for treatment but he succumbed on the way and was declared dead at Soura, on arrival.

Earlier, most places in Kashmir, including plains of the valley, received moderate to heavy snowfall overnight.

The snowfall, which began in late afternoon on Friday, continued in most parts of the valley this morning.

According to MeT officials, it is one of the heaviest snowfalls in recent years in the plains of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded 10 inches of snowfall till 8:30 in the morning and the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded two feet of fresh snow.

While Qazigund recorded 11 inches, Kokernag three inches, Pahalgam 16 inches and Kupwara 17 inches of snow.(KNB)
