Srinagar 14 September (KNB): Orchard land situated at Manchoo Tehsil of South Kashmir’s Kulgam claimed by a person, name withheld, belonging to him has been allegedly grabbed by some ‘offenders’ by use of death threats, as per the owner of the land.
The victim said that due to security reasons he had gone for a while outside the state but on returning he found that his orchard measuring some seven kanals situated at village Manchoo of Kulgam had trespassed, with the alleged offenders in collusion with other officials despite numerous applications and complaints made to the police and the authorities all along.
He said that in 2015 after one of his visits to the Tehsil Headquarters situated in Yaripora, during which the latest revenue papers were duly showing his ownership, the Tehsil office was gutted in fire, resulting in damage to the record. He alleged that the land grabbers were behind the fire incident.
“In 2020 the Tehsildar as executive magistrate at the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner recorded the statements of witnesses as Executive Magistrate clearly demonstrating the assertions made by the victim but nothing was done thereafter to evict the trespass,” the victim said.
He further said that he approached various departments in this regard but no one came to his help. “Now the only hope is to take up the matter with the Anti Corruption Bureau, which I think would investigate it and bring the culprits to justice,” he said.
“In another nearby village Kathapora, another known offender has been trespassing three kanals of my orchard land for decades and has been stealing its fruit and has all along criminally intimidated me with abduction and causing grave injury,” the victim said. (KNB)
