· LG launches Winter Plantation Drive in the District
KUPWARA, OCTOBER 06(KNB): Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on the second day of his visit to Kupwara interacted with various public delegations today.
The delegations comprising of PRI members; residents of Border villages; Traders federation; members of Pahadi, Gujjar Bakerwal and minority communities; Farmers, Transporters, media fraternity and Bar Association apprised the Lt Governor on various development-related issues and other matters of public importance.
The Lt Governor assured the delegations of time-bound redressal of their genuine issues and grievances.
Interacting with the media persons, the Lt Governor said, people-centric policies have given fresh impetus to all-round development in the district and the common man is living in a peaceful environment. He also said that well-planned efforts have resulted in significant increase in tourist influx in the district.
“Electricity has reached the far-flung areas and works under Jal Jeevan Mission has been expedited. We are hopeful to achieve the target of covering all villages, panchayats and households under ‘Nal Se Jal’ by 31st December this year in the district. 70 percent work has already been completed,” the Lt Governor said.
Responding to the query on rail connectivity to Kupwara, the Lt Governor said, the railway ministry has sanctioned a survey of rail line for Kupwara district. Once the survey is completed and the DPR is submitted, I hope work on rail link will be started and Kupwara will be connected to the rail network.
The Lt Governor also launched winter plantation drive as a part of the Green J&K campaign. 8.5 lakh saplings to be planted in the district during the drive.
Earlier, the Lt Governor paid obeisance at Mata Kheer Bhawani Asthapan Tikkar Kupwara and prayed for peace, prosperity, happiness and well-being of one and all.
The Lt Governor spent the night at Kupwara and interacted with many public delegations and officers to assess the development needs of the people of the district.(KNB)
