Srinagar, April 11(KNB): Voting for the first phase Lok Sabha elections has began in Jammu and Kashmir Baramullah district on Thursday morning.
Over 6.5 per cent of the 13.12 lakh electorate cast their votes Thursday in the first two hours of polling in Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.
The voting process started at 7am and will end at 6 p.m.
The polling percentage recorded until 11 am for Baramullah Constituency is as: Baramullah -5.80%, Kupwara-7.98%, Bandipora-5.97%, Milgrants10.24%,while for Jammu constituency is as: Jammu-14.12%, Sambha-16.52%, Rajori-11.88%, Poonch-12.98%.
Earlier,JRL has given the valley wide strike call for today against the Lok Sabha election.Shops,bussiness establishments and schools remained closed in the valley,while as less movement of private transport is being witnessed.
Meanwhile, authorities have suspended the internet service in the polling areas.(KNB)
