Srinagar 24 Oct(KNB):- Muhammad Younis Malik, Vice Chairman of the Lakes and Conservation Management Authority (LCMA), has launched an initiative to restore vital springs around Dal Lake, addressing concerns raised by local youth.
Following heartfelt pleas from activist Mueed Akmali, Malik recognized the importance of preserving these springs, crucial for maintaining ecological balance. Initial cleaning efforts were led by Akmali, inspiring the LCMA to formally engage in the project.
“Restoring natural springs is essential for ecology, livelihoods, and cultural heritage,” Malik stated.
The LCMA has mobilized resources to clean and retrofit “Zakheer Naag,” a key water source and biodiversity hub. Residents applaud Malik’s swift action, aligning with environmental conservation and sustainable development goals.
This collaborative effort empowers the local community, preserving natural resources for future generations. The successful restoration of Zakheer Naag could set a precedent for regional initiatives, fostering a healthier ecosystem.(KNB)
