In a landmark decision, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to lift the ban put on access to social media sites that was in place for over seven months since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 last year.
What can be seen as a big positive is that Social media has crippled all the life activity in Kashmir and meaningful sources of employment linked to it. After the 5 August decisions, the Social media has seen opening nearly after eight months. This will go a long way in establishing sort of peace, smilies back in Kashmir.
One hopes that Social media would continue to flourish in the Jammu and Kashmir and the same medium builds a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory .
It is hoped that only those elements would be taken to task who misuse the social media platform and all the population would not have to suffer for the misdeeds of few.
The Union Government needs to ensure that for concrete peace to be achieved Kashmiris get platforms to voice their concerns and opinions on burning issues and thus remain away from Violence and radicalization, while also ensuring heavy hand against those provoking hate and violence.
The Government needs to be appreciated for realizing the utmost pain suffered by the youth due to non availability of the Social media and keeping it on before situation further escalated.
Social media develops in us activeness by many folds, on Facebook we see what is happening on the news, religion, fashion side throughout world, Twitter too keeps us updated us with global development and important opinions. Instagram helps us more touched to entertainment side. Thus we are inactive by no means .
One hopes Social media prospers in Kashmir not perishes for better future of Jammu and Kashmir.
