Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNB): The high voltage power lines crossing over a primary school in Ganapora village of Kupwara district of north Kashmir has become a major concern for the students, parents and teachers as well.
The wire carries very high electric current flowing through the school not only pose a major threat to the lives of number of students studying in the school, but it also causes a serious health hazard.

A teacher of the School pleading anonymity while talking to Kashmir News Bureau, “As far now no such bad incident has happened but we are very threatened by these wires. It is a life threat for the children who come to the school and also to our lives as well and the constant buzzing of the wires always disturbs us mentally”.
Talking to one of the parents, he said though we send our wards to the school for education but we are worried all the time because of the threat that looms over their head due to these high voltage line.
High voltage lines are not only considered to be potential major hazards, but Electromagnetic field (EMF) radiations are believed to affect the brains and nervous system of people and may cause anxiety, fatigue, headaches, and also depression.
The school kids are fully exposed to the wires and their radiations during prayers and other activities like sports and during their lunch, which they often have in the open as the wires run directly overhead.
Despite repeated attempts executive engineer PDD Kupwara did not respond. (KNB)
