Srinagar, July 24(KNB): One unidentified militant was killed and NCO was injured in a gunfight in the Trimukha top, Lolab area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir.
Army official said, that the operation was launched on July 23 based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Kowut area of Kupwara. On July 24, troops observed suspicious movement and challenged the individuals, who responded with indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing firefight, one militant was killed, and an NCO was injured.
A top police officer confirmed that the gunfight resumed on the morning of July 24 after being suspended overnight. The officer stated that one militant had been killed, but the body had not been retrieved yet as the operation was still ongoing. Further details are awaited.(KNB)
