Srinagar 20 May (KNB): Dr Tarannum Riyaz, wife of Kashmir University’s ex-Vice Chancellor Riyaz Punjabi died on Thursday morning in New Delhi.
She was admitted to a hospital after being tested positive for Coronavirus and died due to Covid19 after her spouse, Riyaz Punjabi, too succumbed to the virus last month.
Dr Tarannum was a noted Urdu fiction writer, critic, poet, essayist and translator. She was born and educated in Srinagar, Kashmir and was a newscaster with All India Radio.
She had pursued her master’s degree in Urdu, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and a Ph.D. in Education from the KU. Dr Tarannum wrote more than fifteen books of fiction, criticism, poetry and translation. (KNB)
