KNB Impact: CM takes spike in airfare issue with Central government

Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNB): The Kashmir News Bureau story titled ‘Skyrocketing airfares choking Tourism in Kashmir’ on the adverse impacts of increased airfare on tourism and normal passengers due to road closures has made a considerable impact in a positive manner.
Today Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted to Civil aviation minister Jayant Sinha –
“Spoke to @jayantsinha ji about the increase in flight fares between Delhi & J&K. Tourism is the backbone of our state’s economy & he has assured me that he will look into the matter.”

“The often spike in the airfares especially the abnormal spike witnessed as a result of often road closures during the winters is eating the pockets of masses . We are very delighted that Chief Minister has taken up the serious issue like this with the civil aviation minister and a story from your institute has had desired impacts , stated Imran Ahmad, an often air traveler.”
Pertinently, to boost the tourism where we see many significant decisions by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department like conducting of winter festival at summer destination Pahalgam, the state seems unaware of the fact that the air ticket prizes are becoming a major cause for the tourists to choose another place for outing.
Now taking up of this issue by CM is seen as step in right direction. (KNB)
