Srinagar, December 26(KNB) — The maiden edition of the Khelo India Women’s Rugby League 2023 concluded with fervor at the Polo Ground in West Srinagar. Organized by the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with Rugby India and the J&K Sports Council, the tournament spanned from December 25th to 26th, witnessing an impressive turnout of more than 400 female athletes from across Jammu and Kashmir.

Under 14:
- Smart Cats Srinagar claimed the top spot.
- Rebellious Rugby Girls Srinagar secured the second position.
- Growth Sports Academy Kupwara clinched the third place.
Under 18:
- Jammu Rugby Club emerged victorious.
- GGHS Avengers Rugby Club Srinagar secured the second position.
- Baramulla Blues Rugby Club claimed the third spot.
Seniors:
- Phoenix Rugby Club Srinagar triumphed in the senior category.
- Muskeeters Rugby Club Srinagar secured the second position.
- Jammu Rugby Club claimed the third spot.
The winning teams across all three age categories were awarded generous cash prizes: Rs 50,000 for the champions, Rs 30,000 for the first runners-up, and Rs 20,000 for the second runners-up.
The tournament not only showcased the budding talents but also highlighted the growing interest and potential in women’s rugby across the region. This event is poised to be a stepping stone for further nurturing and promoting women’s sports in the state.(KNB)
