Kashmir Mourns Nadimarg Massacre on 15th Anniversary

Srinagar 23 March (KNB):Today on eve of the 15th anniversary Kashmir mourned the victims of Nadimarg_ massacre. 2003 Nadimarg massacre was killing of 24 Kashmiri Pandits in the village of Nadimarg in Pulwama District of Jammu and Kashmir by gunman on 23 March 2003. The entire village was in total mourning for months after the massacre. In 2003 Nadimarg was part of Pulwama district but is now in Shopian district.

As a matter of fact, the memories of Nadimarg massacre are still fresh in the minds of the residents of this south Kashmir village. The Muslim community members living in this village still remember how mercilessly 24 Kashmiri Pandits were shot dead by the unidentified gunmen on March 23, 2003.

Kashmiris mourned the tragedy and took to online world to express their grief. Doctor Abdul Qayum Hamid Changal wrote on Facebook – “

We are not humans if we believe in the selective condemnation. I’m well aware this Facebook post of mine won’t heal the wounds or bring justice. But at least whenever we look into the mirror we won’t feel ashamed of ourselves. Nadimarg massacre, like many other massacres in Kashmir was a brutal one, where 24 Kashmiri Pandits were killed including children and women. Who killed them? Whoever, identified or unidentified, they can’t be the humans of alive conscience at all.”

On the otherhand, National Conference leader Junaid Azim Mattu tweeted – “Today is the 23rd Anniversary of the barbaric, heinous Nadimarg Massacre when 24 innocent Kashmiri Pandits were mowed down indiscriminately. Our quest for justice for them should be undying and unrelenting. I pay my humble tributes to those who lost their lives.”

The entire Kashmir valley still awaits justice to victims of Nadimarg massacre like other massacres.(KNB)
