Srinagar 8 May (KNB): KAS fraternity has expressed grief and shock on the sad and untimely demise of Dr Shamim Wani, Special Secretary Finance Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
In a handout issued to Kashmir News Bureau, it was stated that KAS fraternity stands in solidarity with the family of deceased officer and prays to Almighty to grant enough strength to the bereaved family to bear this tragic loss. “All the members of the Service are in a state of shock and mourning and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.”, said the handout.
Recalling the illustrious services rendered by Dr Shamim, it was said that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has lost a brilliant and upright officer who handled all the assignments entrusted to him with utmost professionalism, honesty and grace.
He had a smiling face and positive demeanours, always ready to perform duties amid challenging circumstances and contribute towards welfare of society. “He was an outstanding officer and an equally good human being. We have lost a valued colleague”, said a senior KAS officer.
He was presently posted as Special Secretary Finance and Executive Director, J&K Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation. Earlier he has served as Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, etc.
The statement urged the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to extend all possible support to the family of the bereaved officer who has lost the battle to COVID-19 while dutifully discharging his responsibilities.
Dr Shamim was admitted in the Government Medical College Jammu after his health declined post COVID-19 infection. A few days ago his condition deteriorated following which he was put on ventilator support. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.(KNB)
