Karan Nagar Encounter: Heavy firing going on, militants still inside

 Srinagar 13 feb 2018 (KNB): An encounter resumed on Tuesday morning after an overnight lull between LeT militants and security forces near the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 23 Battalion Headquarters at Karan Nagar in Srinagar .

According to reports, two militants are believed to be holed up near CRPF camp and heavy firing is going on both sides.

Official said Kashmir News Bureau that “security forces were preparing for a final assault on the militants when they opened the firing.

IGP S.P Pani while talking to reporters said “We are suspecting the presence of two militants, the operation is in its final stage. We have been successful in doing a deliberate assault, we are expecting the operation to finish it very soon.”

Importantly,  Mehmood Shah of the Lashkar-e-T0iba  owning responsibility for the attack on the headquarters of the 23 battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force.

However, high speed Internet services has been suspended in the area and restrictions has been imposed in some parts of Srinagar area. (KNB)
