Srinagar 29 November (KNB): Scores of residents of Wooku village of Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district Monday staged a protest against an alleged grabbing of agricultural land to be given to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The residents of Wooku village said that the land being grabbed from them had been used for agricultural purposes, and the decision to hand over land to CRPF, used by them to grow crops, would be contrary to the government’s reiteration to its people to earn and eat.
One of the protesting ladies said that with the erecting of CRPF camps or other bunkers on the land, the residents would be in trouble.
“We want the order of handing over the land to CRPF to be withdrawn so that we would be free of this trouble. We also want no CRPF camp or bunkers to be put up on the land,” said the lady.
The aggrieved residents of Wooku village also appealed to the higher authorities to intervene into the matter and help in disposing of the issue. (KNB)
