Joint resistance leaders protest outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 16 (KNB): A joint programme of the joint resistance leadership and workers of various resistance groups staged a peaceful protest demonstration outside the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
Holding banners and placards, the protestors raised pro-freedom slogans, the speakers on the occasion said, Kashmir issue was a historic reality and its disputed nature could not be challenged.
Demanding the immediate release of all political prisoners and hundreds of youth held in various jails across Kashmir and various Indian states, they said not only were Kashmiris being tortured physically and mentally in these jails, police stations, detention and interrogation .
The unified Hurriyat leaders said taking advantage of the black laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), people of Kashmir were being trampled upon while tens and thousands of freedom-loving people had been already martyred as these draconian laws provide the government forces a license to kill and get away with impunity.
They also condemned the night raids, harassment and beating up of residents and ransacking their houses in various districts of Kashmir. (KNB)
