Srinagar 29 April (KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association (JKYJA) on Thursday urged the Administration in Kashmir especially Srinagar, to go for strategic restrictions rather than complete lockdown as it can badly affected emergency services.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, JKYJA President, Ajaz War said, “There should be total ban on public gatherings. Public parks should be closed to avoid further spreading of the deadly virus.”
“Public transport should not be allowed but private vehicles must be an exception, which are required to be utilised for carrying the patients to hospitals or for other emergency purposes,” he added.
War said that the lockdown must be ordered to be implemented in its letter n spirit through law enforcing agencies but it must in no case or circumstance effect the well being or health of the public at large.
Ajaz War further said that people must follow the procedures established by the Govt. viz -a-viz following of SOPs, maintaining social distancing, wearing of masks at public places, avoiding shaking of hands or hugs etc.
“The outsiders/tourists must be banned to enter into valley for the time being so as to avoid this havoc,” he said, adding that 24 hours helpline is desperately required to be set up by the health care systems, “be it private or governmental, for the convenience of the public in case of emergency.”
Moreover, JKYJA urged the authorities to ensure that life saving drugs, injections, oxygen concentrators, cylinders, oxymeteres, etc are made available.
Doctors and other medical staff should be directed to remain available round the clock which is the need of an hour, they stated, adding that, “They (doctors) shall further be directed to keep their phones on and available in case of timely help/advice even on phone, and they should not ignore the phone calls of needy patients even during night hours as had been previously done by them.”
The Association further stated that Life is precious hence all other efforts and endeavours must be taken to prevent any mishap or untoward incident. (KNB)
