Srinagar, April 08(KNB): Feroze Peerzada, Senior leader and Vice president of Jammu Kashmir People’s movement has urged release of party president, Dr Shah Faisal and other who have been lodged in and outside state jails. They urged humanitarian approach in this regard as entire world is releasing prisoners due to coronavirus havoc .
Pertinently, about 4,000 political leaders including 3 former chief minister were detained and booked under Public Safety Act when the Centre on August 5 ,2019 Bifurcated the state into two union territories and abrogated the Article 370 which gave special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir.
While talking to Kashmir News Bureau (KNB), Feroz said “We demand immediate release of our party president Dr Shah Faisal and a number of senior workers, who have been booked under PSA and lodged in jails within and outside Jammu and Kashmir.”
He further said, ” The prolonged detention of mainstream party leaders is deeply perplexing and problematic for any democratic party,such an action will not get the normalcy restored in any way. It has been more than 8 months since the leaders were detained on Aug 5 now we just demand the release our party leaders and nothing else especially considering the coronavirus havoc. “(KNB)
