Srinagar 15 Jan(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha revealed a significant uptick of 350% in foreign tourist arrivals post G-20 meeting in Srinagar, with a total of 55,000 foreign tourists visiting the region last year.
Speaking at the “Baat Bharat Ki Conclave-2024 Panchjanya” in New Delhi, he emphasized the transformation of Kashmir, stating that the echoes of development now drown out the once ominous sounds of bullets.
LG Sinha highlighted the return of nightlife to Kashmir, exemplified by viral New Year celebrations at Lal Chowk. Despite the chilly conditions, both locals and tourists now enjoy the revitalized nightlife in Srinagar and across the Valley.
While acknowledging last year’s record-breaking 2.12 crore total tourist visits, including the substantial surge post G-20, LG Sinha underscored the persistent threat of terrorism. He outlined a comprehensive plan to not only eradicate terrorism but dismantle its entire ecosystem, emphasizing the government’s commitment to establishing peace in J&K.
LG Sinha also discussed strategic administrative changes, including the abolition of the annual Darbar Move exercise, which he noted was draining the state exchequer. He highlighted J&K’s advancements in digital services, surpassing Madhya Pradesh and leading in online services. Additionally, he emphasized the success of implementing the Public Services Guarantee Act and shared positive statistics on job creation and entrepreneurial ventures in the region.
LG Sinha reaffirmed J&K’s status as a priority for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, underscoring the region’s significance as the crown of India.(KNB)
