Baramulla, Dec. 29(KNB):The Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information (RTI) Foundation, known for its active involvement in environmental causes, has raised significant concerns regarding irregularities in the Expression of Interest (EOI) process for Solid Waste Management in District Baramulla.
In response to the EOI invitation (EOI No.: ACP/Bla/2023/SBM/9756-90 DIPK-13894-23), the Foundation, renowned for spearheading impactful initiatives like the Nallae Ferozpora Bachao Movement, Tosamaidan Conservation and Saaf Shafaaf Muhim, expressed a keen interest in contributing to Baramulla’s environmental conservation efforts. However, ambiguities in the guidelines, particularly regarding essential documentation required for participation, hindered their proactive involvement.
Expressing dismay over unaddressed emails dated December 18, 2023, and December 23, 2023, seeking clarifications, the Foundation highlighted the lack of responsiveness from concerned authorities. This lack of communication severely limited conscientious organizations, such as the J&K RTI Foundation, from participating effectively in addressing Baramulla’s pressing solid waste management challenges.
The Foundation has raised this concern with prominent authorities, including the Director of the Rural Development Department Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, and ACP Baramulla. Their collective appeal aims to shed light on potential deliberate hindrances, obstructing genuine environmental entities from actively engaging in the district’s waste management initiatives.
Advocating for fairness, transparency, and equitable opportunities for all agencies dedicated to addressing Baramulla’s waste management issues, the Foundation urges a comprehensive investigation into the irregularities within the EOI.(KNB)
