Jammu 10 July (KNB): In a major crackdown, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted searches at multiple properties and locations associated with Tarun Behl in Jammu on July 11, 2024. The raids were carried out in connection with the investigation of case FIR No. 80/2024 under sections 3/5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and 49/353 BNSS of PS Channi Himmat.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB police said, Tarun Behl, son of Bal Krishan Behl, a resident of House No. 101, Sector 6, Channi Himmat, Jammu, has been arrested for allegedly extracting and sharing sensitive information detrimental to the security concerns of the state.
The accused is also charged with inciting persons to commit offenses against other classes or sections of society.
During the searches, electronic gadgets and documents were seized from Behl’s residence and the International British School in Chowadhi, in the presence of duty magistrates and independent witnesses. Behl has been taken into police custody for four days for further investigation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of the state. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as the case unfolds, police official said. (KNB)
