J&K Government Changes Rules for School Staff Management

Srinagar, August 01 (KNB): The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a new order affecting the management of school staff across the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 304-JK(Edu) of 2024, dated August 1, 2024, the powers previously delegated to Principals and Cluster Heads for staff rationalization are now withdrawn and will be exercised solely by the Joint Directors of School Education, with prior approval from the respective Directors.

This modification overturns the previous Government Order No. 2173-JK(Edu) of 2022, which had granted Principals and Cluster Heads authority over staff deployment and internal arrangements. The new directive also stipulates that Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers are prohibited from making any rationalization or internal staff adjustments.

The Government has made it clear that any deviation from this order will result in strict action against the erring officials. This move aims to centralize the decision-making process and ensure a more regulated and standardized approach to staff management within the school system.

The order has been communicated to various education officials, including the Directors of School Education for Kashmir and Jammu, Chief Education Officers and Principals. It emphasizes the need for adherence to the new guidelines to avoid any administrative lapses.-KNB
