Srinagar 06 April 9(KNB): The eight-member delegation of Government Employees, Casual and informal workers of J&K represented by Convenor TUCC J&K and General Secretary JK-EJAC Syed Ghulam Rasool Geelani under the leadership of National General Secretary TUCC and Member ESIC, Government of India Shri SP Tiwari met worthy Secretary to Ministry of Labour and employment, Union of India, Shri Sunil Barthwal at his office Shram Shakti Bhawan, Rafi Marg, New Delhi.
In a statement issued to newsgathering agency KNB, The delegation raised the issue of minimum wages and its revision on regular intervals, coverage in ESIC and EPFO in favor of all the categories of temporary/Casual workers including NYC’s and vocational academic instructors working in skill development and ITI sector. The issue of their phase-wise regularization was also discussed in the high-level meeting attended by two senior Joint Secretaries of the labor ministry along with additional chief commissioner Central.
The delegation today met the Honourable Minister for labour and employment,Forest,Environment and Climate change Shri Bupander Yadav Ji at his residence 9 Motilal Nehru Marg New Delhi.
National Trade Union Leader SP Tiwari briefed Honorable Minister about the hardships faced by temporary casual workers in J&K UT administration.
Syed Ghulam Rasool Geelani highlighted the role of all the wings of the Forest department especially Social Forestry in implementing the GREEN INDIA MISSION initiated by the Government of India to combat climatic change. Mr Geelani demanded the removal of pay anomalies in the different wings of the forest department and necessary amendments in the recruitment rules of the Social Forestry Department to create promotional avenues for newly re-designated Jr. Malis.
The Honourable Minister assured the delegation that he will look into the demands raised by the delegation and direct the concerned authorities for favorable consideration.
