Srinagar, Oct 1(KNB): The third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections witnessed a remarkable 65.48% voter turnout by 5 pm, according to official figures.
The Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, reported that all 40 assembly constituencies across seven districts recorded a significant turnout, with district-wise figures as follows:
- Bandipora: 63.33%
- Baramulla: 55.37%
- Jammu: 66.79%
- Kathua: 70.53%
- Kupwara: 62.76%
- Samba: 72.41%
- Udhampur: 72.91%
This phase saw 39,18,220 eligible voters, comprising 20,09,033 men, 19,40,092 women, and 57 third-gender voters. Notably, 1.94 lakh young voters (18-19 years), 35,860 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and 32,953 elderly voters (above 85 years) exercised their franchise.
Elaborate arrangements were made by District Administrations to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections at all polling stations.
The successful conclusion of Phase III marks the end of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, with results awaited.(KNB)
