Srinagar, Oct 7(KNB): The counting of votes for the JK Assembly Elections 2024 will commence at 8 AM on October 8, announced Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pandurang K Pole.
CEO Pole confirmed that 28 counting centres have been set up across 20 districts in Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate the counting process for 90 assembly constituencies.
Comprehensive security measures are in place, with a three-tier security cover around counting centres. CCTV cameras have been installed in strong rooms and counting centres to ensure monitoring.
Counting Process
- Postal ballots will be counted first.
- EVMs will be counted 30 minutes later.
- Accurate information on each round will be uploaded timely.
- Strong rooms will be opened in the presence of candidates, representatives, and ECI observers.
- Mobile phones are prohibited inside counting centres.
ECI has appointed counting observers to monitor the process.
Only authorized individuals will be permitted inside counting centres. The public and political party representatives are requested to check results from home. Results will also be available on the Election Commission of India’s website and Voter Helpline App.
Media centres have been set up at counting centres for press updates.
Instructions have been given to closely monitor social media to prevent rumour-mongering.
The JK elections saw a peaceful polling on October 1, with a 64% voter turnout. National and regional parties, along with a record number of independents, contested the elections.(KNB)
