Investigation Alleges LAVA Phones Use Refurbished Chips, Raising Quality Concerns

Kashmir News Bureau Exclusive

Srinagar 25 Sep(KNB): A recent online investigation is alleging that new feature phones from LAVA International may contain refurbished components, sparking a debate about the company’s manufacturing and quality control practices. The claims, which originated from social media posts by mobile phone repair technicians, suggest that some of the company’s recently launched models are not built with new parts.

To independently verify these claims, a group of online reviewers purchased and publicly disassembled several of LAVA’s feature phones. The on-camera teardown revealed multiple chips that appeared to show signs of prior use. The chips reportedly exhibited noticeable wear, including blurred lettering, scratched surfaces, and smudged or oxidized edges.

Adding to the scrutiny, the reviewers claimed that some of these chips shared identical batch numbers, which they traced to older phone models that have been out of production for up to six years. For a visual comparison, the reviewers presented a new chip from another manufacturer, highlighting its distinct characteristics, such as sharp engravings and smooth edges, which were notably absent from the LAVA components.

The findings have fueled speculation that LAVA is using recycled parts in devices sold as new, a practice that could mislead consumers. In a statement, the reviewers cautioned the public, stating that “the rumors in the media are not unfounded” and urged consumers to be vigilant when purchasing new mobile phones.

LAVA International has not yet publicly addressed the allegations. Repeated attempts to contact the company’s CEO from Kashmir News Bureau for comment were unsuccessful.(KNB)
