Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNB): Few days back Kashmir heard a shocking news that believed as LeT outfit suspect Bilal Ahmed Kawa from Downtown Srinagar was arrested in a joint operation by Special Cell of Delhi Police and Gujarat ATS from Delhi Airport for alleged involvement in terror attack on Red Fort in 2000, however, his family, friends and all who know him stated Kawa is totally innocent and are terming his arrested on “frivolous” charge.
Kawa’s family while talking to media has made it clear that he has been arrested on “frivolous” charges and agencies are trying to implicate him in a case in which he has no hand at all. “He was only a teenager in 2000, when this incident had happened in which he has been implicated. What is making them arrest my son after 17 years of this incident,” said Kawa’s mother Fatima.”
Advocate Uzair Ronga , while talking to Kashmir News Bureau stated-“Bilal Ahmad Kawa is in no way involved in any terror activities. He has travelled Delhi scores of times and was never absconding .He was busy with the normal chorus of life running his leather business. In 2000 his brother in law was falsely implicated and then acquitted after 12 long years. Both of them are innocents and nothing was found against Bilal Ahmad Kawa at that time too when a team from Delhi arrived to investigate the matter.”
“This cock and bull story has no base neither even an iota of truth in it .He was a regular traveller to Delhi. We have seen similar incidents in past and the same is being repeated in Bilal’s matter, that how innocent kashmiris are being harassed and used as scape goats on the eve of Indian republic day,” Uzair added.
Pertinently, On 22 December, 2000, three people, including two army jawans, were killed in the Red Fort attack when militants started indiscriminate firing near the monument.
