Bandipora 22 July(KNB): In what has become a recurring nightmare for residents of Aloosa Bandipora, heavy rainfall has once again wreaked havoc as poorly designed drainage systems failed to cope with the downpour, resulting in rainwater inundating numerous homes across the area.
The dire situation has left many of residents struggling to salvage their belongings and seek refuge from the deluge.
As per the reports pouring in as the rain intensified, revealing that several areas in Aloosa Village were the first to bear the brunt of the waterlogging. Streets turned into rivers, and vehicles became stranded as floodwaters surged uncontrollably.
Angry residents expressed their frustrations over the lack of action from local authorities to address the drainage issues that have been plaguing in the Aloosa village for years. They blame the inadequate maintenance and outdated infrastructure for the recurring floods that disrupt their lives.
One of the resident, whose lawn was submerged in the rising water, shared his distressing experience and told News agency KNB that “Every year, it’s the same story. Our pleas for better drainage fall on deaf ears. Our homes are flooded, and our lives are turned upside down. It’s time for the government to take decisive action and invest in a modern drainage system that can handle the heavy rainfall.”
The locals complained that, no one from the administration came for rescue after water entered our houses, despite contacted the local authority but all in vain.
The concern authority couldn’t be contacted despite repeated calls for their comments.(KNB)
