Awantipora 30 October (KNB): The Closing ceremonies of ‘Hajin Football Premier League’ and Awantipora Police Martyr’s Memorial Sports Festival were held in Hajin and Awantipora.
Officials said that the event was kicked off on 11th October 2020 at Hajin in which 32 teams from Sumbal and Hajin participated.
SSP Bandipora Shri Rahul Malik-IPS chaired the event, besides ASP Bandipora, SDPO Sumbal, DYSP Hajin and other senior officers of Police and Army were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Bandipora said that police is providing many opportunities to the youth to showcase their talents, be it organizing sports events or other talent hunt initiatives.
He emphasized upon participants to take maximum benefits from such kind of events, so that they can achieve their desired goals in life.
A prize distribution ceremony was also held and cash prizes along with sports kits were distributed among the participants, officials stated.
In Awantipora, the closing ceremony of Police Martyr’s Memorial Cricket Tournament was held at cricket stadium Check Midura Tral.
Officials stated that the tournament started on 21st October on eve of Police Commemoration Day, 16 teams from different areas of Tral/Awantipora participated.
During the closing presentation SSP Awantipora Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS and other senior officers of police felicitated winner and runner up teams with trophies, sports uniforms and cash prizes, officials stated.
Officials further stated that Player of the series Jahangir Ahmad and player of the final match Suhail Ahmad were also felicitated with Cash prize and a trophy.
SSP Awantipora while interacting with players said that police is committed to give boost to the sports and other youth development activities in the area and channelize their energy in positive manner.
He further stated that sports activities are important for personality development, positivity, and good health and keeps the individual away from the negative forces.
Officials said that community members and youth of the area have appreciated the efforts of police and expressed hope that police will provide them similar platform in future to show case their talents. (KNB)
