Kathua, Jan 04 (KNB): An RPF (Railway Protection Force) personnel was injured after being hit by a gunshot at Kathua Railway Station on Sunday, triggering swift action by police and railway authorities.
Officials said the incident occurred within the station premises, following which the injured personnel was immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. A senior police officer confirmed that the injured RPF jawan is stable and out of danger.
Soon after the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and carried out necessary safety measures to ensure there was no threat to commuters or railway staff. Police and railway officials have taken cognizance of the matter.
An investigation has been launched to ascertain the sequence of events and the circumstances that led to the firing. Authorities said further details will be shared as the inquiry progresses. —(KNB)
