Govt formation possible, but not without PDP MLAs: Muzzafar Baig

Asks Mehbooba to take strict action on complaints of legislators

Srinagar 17 July (KNB): Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and member parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baigh Tuesday hinted at the formation of new government in the state. He said that the formation of new government is possible but not without PDP MLAs.

He said no government is possible in Jammu and Kashmir without the MLAs of PDP.
Baig, however, distanced himself from an earlier media report in which he was quoted of having “requested/ appealed” legislators to unite. “I didn’t request or appeal. Only I said is that no government is possible without PDP MLAs,” he said.

In an exclusive conversation with Kashmir News Bureau (KNB), Baig said no government formation is possible in the state without the MLAs of PDP. “No government is possible without MLAs of PDP,” he said.
He said the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti should strictly act on the complaints of legislators to set things right in the party.

Baig said Mehbooba Ji as the Party president should act on the complaints of MLAs against all those whose actions have led to the current crisis in the party.

He admitted that the performance of Mehbooba led government was not up to the mark. “I too spoke about under performance of the government several times in party meetings. Legislators should work to restore the image of the party as we have still three years left. It is a huge time. The government formation is possible” he said.

Baig’s latest remarks assume significance at a time the rebellion is brewing within PDP with some six legislators already having called it a day with PDP.

The MLAs led by former minister and influential Shia leader Imran Ansari are at war with Mehbooba. The speculations are rife that Ansari along with few other like-minded people are in talks with other parties to look for possibilities of a new government formations. “Politics is art of possibilities. It is all about possibility of numbers,” Ansari had earlier said. (KNB)
