Pulwama, 07 November (KNB): The government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a government order temporarily suspending mobile data services in specific areas of District Pulwama, citing concerns related to national security and public safety.
The order, numbered Home–08(TSTS) of 2023, was issued on November 5, 2023, by the Authorized Officer, ADGP Kashmir Zone, Srinagar, in accordance with the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017. The suspension of mobile data (2G/3G/4G/5G) services is in effect from 1900 hours on November 5, 2023, until 1900 hours on November 8, 2023.
The specific areas affected by this temporary suspension are Wampora and Hunipora, which fall within a radius of 3 kilometers of latitude 33.9614541 and longitude 74.8720951 in District Pulwama.
The government order stated that this decision was taken to prevent the misuse of mobile data services by anti-national elements and miscreants, which could potentially lead to a deterioration in public order. The order emphasizes that this action is necessary to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of India, ensure the security of the state, and maintain public order.
Financial Commissioner (ACS) Home, in his capacity as the Competent Authority, confirmed the order issued by the Authorized Officer, despite not obtaining prior approval, recognizing the absolute necessity of the directive for national security and public safety.(KNB)
