Jammu, Feb 09 (KNB): In a stern warning issued to government counsels against playing truant with their professional responsibilities, Jammu and Kashmir government has said this practice will be now onwards taken “seriously” by the Law Department.
In this regard a order has been issued through its Law Department, the government has said: “Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir vide order dated 27/12/2017 and 28.12.2017 passed in SWP No. 1959/2015 has observed that Sr.AAGs/AAGs/Dy.AGs/ Government advocates are not filling the “Memo of Appearance” and are seeking unnecessary adjournment in the matters.
‘The Hon’ble High Court has taken it seriously and ordered that all senior Sr.AAGs/AAGs/Dy.AGs/ Government advocates, appearing on behalf of the state or the Department concerned, shall file their “Memo of Appearance” in particular cases that are assigned to them, as a condition precedent”.
The order further states: “In order to overcome this practice of non appearance and seeking of unnecessary adjournments all that Sr.AAGs/AAGs/Dy.AGs/ Government advocates are impressed upon to ensure their appearance in the cases that are assigned to them, falling which the matter will be seriously viewed by the Law Department including forfeiting/ cancellation of their appointments.
