Government fails to evacuate the stranded passengers

Srinagar, Feb 12(KNB):The Srinagar-Jammu  highway is the medium which connects the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the world .
Due to the  frequent and sudden closure of the highway the travellers are facing the hardship  and usually get stranded in the highway  and have to face the difficulties .
Though the government of  Jammu and Kashmir with collaboration with different agencies are working day and night to make the highway feasible for traffic but there is a need of establishments for the  accommodations of the stranded passengers  as the uncertainty about  the  road are higher. And the  passenger are looted by the miscellaneous persons by selling the goods at demanding prices .
The National highway has been closed from last seven days and there is hardly any steps taken by the Governor adminstration to   airlift the stranded passengers at different places in national highway
Nisar Ahmad Khanday a resident from the Srinagar outskirts said ” we have been stranded from last seven days and there is no help from the authorities and have left on the roads   for dying under the open sky amid bone chilling cold and We are running short of money ,,

Meanwhile Sikh community  setting an example of humanity has started Free Langar and accomodation for stranded passengers   at jammu bus stand and requested them  to go  to any Gurdwara in Jammu Like Chand kour, bc road ,Nanak nagar and Digiana Ashram.

Another local said ” the government should already keep the arrangements for the travellers for crisis situation ,so that no one has to face the difficulties ,
He added  even though there are concern of sudden closure of the highway no pre actions are taken by government to avoid the suffering of stranded passengers.
Though Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said the Army will airlift stranded students and others from Srinagar to Jammu and vice-versa as the national highway, the only surface link that connects the valley with rest of the country, is blocked due to heavy snowfall but  no such steps has been taken yet , Kashmiri Stranded Passenger’s Were Asked To Reach the Narwal Eidgah Jammu where from they will be airlifted to Srinagar but after reaching there they were asked to leave adding the salt to wounds
Earlier the stranded passengers held a demonstration against the government  for alleged failure to evacuate them to Srinagar ( KNB)
