Urges Govt. to resume work over building of Heritage Higher Secondary School Charar I Sharif, Budgam
Budgam April 05(KNB): Apni party leader, former VC JK cements and executive council member IUST on Tuesday urged the government to provide the building to Higher Secondary School Charar I Sharif, Budgam so that students won’t get suffer.
In a statement issued to news agency KNB, he said that the Government Higher Secondary School was established in the Charar Sharif area in the Budgam district of Central Kashmir in 1962 under the then Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Bakhshi Ghulam Muhammad. This institution has historical importance, but unfortunately it turned old and was demolished, now students are studying in open sky or in tin sheds, he said.
Er Yaroo said, that according to the locals, students from different districts of the valley including Srinagar and Pulwama used to come to Charar Sharif to get enrolled in the Higher Secondary School besides Budgam district. The culturally important school building was declared unsafe by the Public Works Department in 2012, but after the teaching work continued till 2018, the old building was finally demolished and the teaching of students started in Ten Sheds.
A DPR of Rs. 4 crore was also prepared by the government for the modern building. However, construction work of the modern building is not being started after years of demolition of the building.
Er Nazir Ya too said, many student delegations have met me and raised the concern. While meeting students they said, that “Instead of a cultural and spacious building, teaching has been reduced to narrow tan sheds.” According to them relevant departments were approached several times but nothing was obtained except the assurances of the officers.
Er Yatoo urged LG administration for early attention into the matter, for smooth education of children.(KNB)
