From Food Tech Grad to Bakery Boss: The Inspiring Journey of Sopore’s Tabia Firdous

SOPORE 19 March(KNB): – In the heart of North Kashmir, a young woman is proving that technical expertise and a heart for service are the perfect ingredients for a successful business. Tabia Firdous, a 23 year old Food Technology graduate has turned her passion for baking into T99 Bakes, a burgeoning homemade bakery brand that is quickly becoming a household name in Sopore.

Tabia’s journey is one of academic rigor and professional grit. An alumna of Army Goodwill School Sopore, she pursued a Diploma in Food Technology before heading to Punjab. There, she completed her B.Tech in Food Technology at Bhai Gurudas College, Sangrur.

Before venturing out on her own in 2024, Tabia honed her skills at several prestigious institutions, gaining a diverse range of industry experience at DMS Delhi, Kamal Food Mills, Aqua Impex Pvt Ltd and The Grand Lalit, Srinagar.

In 2024, Tabia launched T99 Bakes from her home. Combining her technical knowledge of food science with a commitment to French inspired techniques, she quickly separated herself from the competition. In an industry where trust is paramount, Tabia has maintained a 100% 5-star rating since her very first day.
Hygiene and premium quality is not just a priority it’s a promise to our customers who believe and trust us, Tabia shared during a recent interview.

While most businesses celebrate their first anniversary with sales or parties, Tabia chose a different path. In June 2025 to mark one year of T99 Bakes, she organized a free vocational workshop at the Blind, Deaf and Dumb School in Baramulla.
During the session she trained students in basic baking skills aiming to instill confidence and provide a glimpse into a potential career path. “I wanted to show them that they can do anything,” Tabia explained. “This day was a celebration of humanity and inclusion.”

Tabia Firdous represents a new wave of Kashmiri entrepreneurs who are leveraging their education to create local opportunities. By prioritizing hygiene and community impact she isn’t just selling cakes she’s building a legacy of empowerment in Sopore.(KNB)
