Srinagar 2 Jan (KNB): After the introduction of GST in Kashmir, traders witnesses numerous strikes, error and problem to fill the returns due to shut down on internet as frequent ban is affecting the business establishments in the valley. The filling of e-returns gets effected resulting in missing of deadline and traders have to pay late fee.
According to reports reaching KNB from the different areas of the Kashmir especially from the south Kashmir that many traders are unable to fill their GST on time which results them to pay extra charges because of the snapping of Internet. Besides having no purchase or sale during the return filling period they still to pay the late fee
While talking to Kashmir News Bureau Nazir Ahmad a wholesale shopkeeper from South Kashmir said, “GST has badly affected all sectors in Kashmir especially the business sector, everyday we are facing issues with filing returns as we don’t have Internet services on daily basis because the internet is often shut down here, which creates more problems.”
“We have generate the make the e-way bills for transportation of the consignment stocks and have to pay huge amount of taxes ,even when the products are not sold in the market in other states,” a saffron cultivator from the Pampore area said
Talking to the KNB, Additional commissioner commercial taxes Manzoor Ahmad Bhat said, “GST is not only in Jammu and Kashmir but throughout the India. we have to follow the rules and the regulations of the GST Act , there are some genuine issues and we have taken the matter with the higher authorities regarding the internet snapping especially in south Kashmir, the decision has to be taken by the higher authorities, it may take some time but we will try to sort it’’
Meanwhile GST was implemented in the Jammu and Kashmir more than a year back in the month of July in 2017 .Even after one year of the implementation the traders and business class is not able to cope with the new taxation rule and has negatively impacted the economy of common masses in Kashmir.
