Srinagar 10 march (KNB): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar today said that four persons, who were involved in planning a Vehicle based IED blast in Pampore, were arrested by Police.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar today, IGP, Kashmir said that Awantipora Police has been working on two different militant modules and among them one belongs to Jaish e Mohammad outfit.
He said that Jaish Mohammad Militant outfit has been working on plans to execute a Vehicle based IED blast in Pampore/National Highway.
Vijay Kumar said that Sahil Nazir, a BA first year student, was motivated through social networking applications to buy a vehicle and was provided money for it by the outfit.
IGP added that explosives for the attack were supposed to be coming from north Kashmir.
As per IGP, Awantipora Police kept on tracking him and eventually in a cordon and search operation arrested him.
He disclosed information about his associate, ‘Kaiser Ahmad’, who is also from Pampore and had also been working as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) from past 2 years, IGP added.
Vijay Kumar said that afterwards, Ahmad was also arrested and he disclosed information about another person and the car, which was going to be used for the attack.
The car (Maruti, bearing number JK01E0690) was recovered from the house of Mohmmad Fayaz and was arrested by the Police, IGP said, adding that another associate, Yasir Ahmed Wani was also arrested.
Moreover, IGP said that Sahil Nazir gave a statement/confession to the police, which has also been visually recorded.
In his confession, Nazir also revealed to the police that on 25 January 2021, he had hurled a grenade towards a CRPF party in Pampore, Vijay Kumar added.
About the IED being transported from North Kashmir for the attack, IGP said that investigation is going on and soon the involved person will be apprehended. (KNB)
