Srinagar, March,18(KNB): The novel Caronavirus, covid-19 which originated in China, has now spread across the globe claiming thousands of lives, with no cure so far the disease has become a major threat to the entire world.

While the impact of novel caronavirus has been the most in China and Italy, India also is being affected with a gradual rise in the number of positive cases however Karela being the first affected area covid-19 has reached other regions including Maharashtra, Delhi, Pune, Jammu and Kashmir and many other states.

As per the record, 5,845 people have died across the world due to the deadly coronavirus so far while in India, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 147, with Maharashtra reporting the highest tally followed by Kerala.The deadly virus has spread across 12 states of the country of these, 14 patients have recovered while the desease claimed lives of three patients, one in Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka.

Both the union territory Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir has reported total number of eleven positive cases of covid-19 with eight cases in ladakh and three in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Director SKIMS AG Ahanger said out of 41 samples taken from patients with Coronavirus symptoms have all turned negative in valley , he appealed people not to worry but take precautions.

He said, people should not unnecessarily crowd hospitals, minimise visits, people travelling from abroad must stay at home don’t approach hospitals unless there are symptoms.

Meanwhile, as preventive measures, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered closure of all educational institutions and aganwadi centres till 31 March.

In response to the virus’s spread, countries around the world are ramping up measures to try to slow it down, Governments have halted flights from virus-hit nations, locked down towns, urged people to stay at home, and suspended major sporting and social events.(KNB)
