Kulgam 29 Oct : Five non-local labourers were shot dead by militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday evening, officials said.
One person has been critically injured in the attack and has been rushed to the hospital.
The labourers hailed from Murshidabad, West Bengal.
A massive search operation is going on at the moment. Additional security forces have been called in.
All the labourers were worked as masons.
Jammu and Kashmir Police sources told ANI, “Security forces have cordoned the area and a massive search operation is going on there. Additional security forces have been called in. Labourers killed by militants were believed to be from West Bengal and were working as daily wagers.”
The attack happened on a day a delegation of parliamentarians from the European Union is visiting Kashmir to talk to locals and ask them about their experience after the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 of the Constitution in August.
