Srinagar 6 September (KNB): First ever National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp was organised with an objective to impart training as well as integrate the youth in the national mainstream, on 2nd September at village T-Suntwari in Macchal Sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, which will conclude on 10th of this month.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, officials said that the National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of the Indian Armed forces. A Tri service organisation, NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and idea of self-less service amongst young citizens.
It further aims at creating a pool of organised trained and motivate youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life who have the flair to serve the nation regardless of which ever career, they choose.
Officials said that as a historic step, a first ever NCC training camp has been organised at village T- Suntwari in Machhal Sector of Kupwara District, Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir from 2nd to 10th September for NCC Cadets belongs to school and colleges of Uri, Kupwara, Handwara, Sopore, Pattan, Bandipora, Baramulla & Border Villages of Machhal Sector.
As per the statement, a total of 145 (Senior Division/Junior Division) Cadets are participating in the Annual Training Camp. “The main object of the camp is to impart training as well as integrate the youth in the national mainstream. The camp would also aim at selecting suitable NCC cadets for various levels of competitions at State, National and International level,” officials said, adding that the training curriculum will expose the NCC cadets to the physical training, drill, weapon training and firing, cultural activity, social service activity, traffic awareness, environmental awareness and protection activity.
Moreover, officials said that the NCC Cadets will also undertake adventure activities like trekking the adjacent hills of Machhal.
“They will also visit Border Villages to carry out social service as also will interact with senior citizens of the area,” they said.
Officials further informed that Senior officers from the local formation would also be visiting the camp to motivate the NCC cadets.
“Meritorious cadets shall be awarded for outstanding performance during the camp,” officials said and added, “Keeping in mind the Covid-19 situation, the Camp will follow strict COVID-19 protocols. Block Medical Officer Kalaroos has Provided the necessary medical cover by carrying out Rapid Antigen Test of the entire staff and cadets on arrival for the Camp.”
The statement further said that the Camp is being conducted under the aegis of ADG NCC Directorate Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh in coordination with support of the formation at Machhal Sector.
“All security, infrastructure and administrative assistance has been provided by the formation Head quarters,” officials said. (KNB)
