Srinagar,. April 12(KNB): Despite assurance from the government that the ration will be delivered to the door steps of people, the situation on the ground is different- people gathered in ration depot of Mahrajpora area of Batamaloo in Srinagar.
Residents allegedly said that despite orders from the government, the store keeper of Ration depot at Mahrajpora area of Batamaloo refused the distribution of Ration at door steps by citing the reason of non-availability of laborers.
One of the local resident of Mahrajpora said, “The government has announced distribution of ration for April and May at door steps to prevent the spread of deadly Corona virus, But here in our area the situation is different as Ghat Munshi refused to deliver ration at door steps following which people gathered at Ration depot which could pose a threat of spread of pandemic Covid-19.”
He said, “At this crucial stage when whole nation is under lockdown where from we will get the ration, we will die of starvation even before the covid19 disease consumes us.”
Despite repeated calls, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary did not respond .(KNB)
