Srinagar, Aug 31(KNB): Visitors, anticipating to take a beautiful trip to Doodhpathri a famous tourist destination in Budgam district have to pay exorbitant charges at various points for entry passes which has evoked strong resentment among the drivers.
Drivers alleged Doodhpathri development authority for charging higher vehicle entry fee than normal charges which is taken frequently at various points than any other tourist destination.
Ramesh, a local visitor said, “I was in a complete distress after I was asked to pay Rs 20, after than Rs 50 and travelling not more than a half kilometer again an amount of Rs 100, I don’t understand what is the logic of charging frequently and higher than normal charges.”
He further said, “I have travelled to several tourist destinations, but have not seen this sort of a levy anywhere.”
A travel agent said, “While travelers are mostly irked by the exorbitant charges, it does grant visitors more opportunity to check out other places than Doodhpathri like Sonmarg, Gulmarg, Phalagam or also visitors would enjoy Day lake views across Bulvard for as long as they please and that too without any charge.”
While talking to Kashmir News Bureau DC Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganai said, “I have just taken the charges, Now that you notified us about this, we will definitely look into the matter.”(KNB)
