Exchange of Fire Erupts in Kishtwar’s Kalaban Forest

Kishtwar 05 Nov(KNB)– An intense encounter is currently underway between security forces and suspected terrorists in the dense Kalaban forest area of Naidgam, located in the Chatroo Sub-Division of Kishtwar District.

Initial reports confirm that the exchange of fire began this morning after a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants in the area.

As the security personnel zeroed in on the suspected hideout within the rugged forest terrain, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle which is ongoing.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the remote location to tighten the perimeter and ensure that the terrorists are contained within the operational area. Given the challenging topography, the operation is proceeding with caution.

Official details regarding any casualties on either side, or the number of terrorists trapped, are awaited as the operation continues. Authorities have sealed off all entry and exit points leading into the forest area.
