Srinagar 23 June (KNB): An encounter started between security forces and militants on Wednesday afternoon in South Kashmir’s Shirmal area of Shopian, said police.
As per an official, the encounter started after security forces carried out a cordon and search operation in a suspected area after an inputs about the presence of militants.
The searching party was fired upon by the hidden militants, which later on triggered the encounter between two sides.
However, police in this regard said that “Encounter has started at Shirmal area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” (KNB)
