Srinagar 8 April (KNB): Encounter broke out between militants and security forces on Thursday afternoon in South Kashmir’s Shopian town, official said.
According to official, the encounter started in the shopian town after the cordon and search operation was carried out by a joint team of army and police following the inputs regarding the presence of militants in the area.
However, both the police and security forces got engaged in the gunfight in the Shopian town, when the fires were opened by the hidden militants on the searching parties.
Later the fires were retaliated with the same response from the forces, turning the scene into an encounter.
It is pertinent to mention this is the another encounter after the one took place in a forest belt area known as Chor Ki Gali, in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday. (KNB)
