Shopian 3 April (KNB): An encounter started between militants and government forces in a forest belt area known as Chor Ki Gali, in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.
An Army official told Kashmir News Bureau that on basis of specific information by Jammu and Kashmir Police about the presence of militants in Sedhau forest area, known as Chor ki Gali, a cordon and search operation was launched by teams of police, Army and CRPF.
Upon reaching the suspected spot, militants opened fire upon the forces which was retaliated, triggering off the encounter, official said, adding that the joint operation is in progress.
Reportedly, more than three militants are believed to be trapped in the area, as the exchange of fire between the forces and militants is going on. (KNB)
